iThrive Leadership Workshop

Situation:

The iThrive Leadership for a Healthier Austin Conference and Workshop Series was designed to provide skill-building instruction to current and future leaders involved in public health issues in Central Texas serving the Steps to a Healthier Austin intervention area. The event addressed health issues like obesity, asthma, diabetes and poor eating and exercise habits and armed attendees with the tools and knowledge to combat these health issues in the community.

Challenge:

  • Inspire Austinites to think positively about their lives and to adopt behaviors that support a healthy lifestyle
  • Encourage current and future leaders to become facilitators of change within their organizations and communities

How we Helped:

  • Organized and built the foundation of the event by providing STEPS with the program management throughout the event planning and execution process
  • Worked with Turning Point Collaborative Leadership to identify relevant teambuilding workshops & breakout sessions for attendees
  • Successfully integrated workshop theme throughout plan by collaborating with TKO creative services team to develop event  “look & feel” including branding, signage, marketing collateral and relevant linkage to the “i-thrive” campaign theme
  • Ensured outreach and market the event and attract participants that represent key stakeholder groups
  • Measured initiative success and provided post-event reporting and follow-up
  • Identified opportunities for ongoing communication (e.g., e-Newsletter, quarterly conference calls, follow-up mini sessions, etc.) that would encourage the development of a networking community among attendees after the event

    Impact:

Provided a distribution of leadership skills amongst current and emerging leaders serving designated zip codes in the Austin area.
Empowered and equipped future leaders to become Facilitators of Change within their organization or community
Initiated collaborative dialogue amongst Central Texas leaders on health issues facing at risks zip codes
Exposed leaders to the STEPS to a Healthier Austin initiative and increase participation in the Search Your Heart Program
