Situation:
Many asthmatics remain undiagnosed, under treated
and under managed, particularly in the Steps Catchment area. It is critical to
discuss the problem and educate the professional community who interfaces with
asthmatics about possible solutions to the problem.
On September 14, 2007 the American Lung Association
(ALA) serving the Central States hosted the 2007 Austin Regional Asthma Summit.
This full-day conference was designed to educate and empower community medical
professionals and health activists called to shape a program of action in the
area of asthma management. The summit offered a supportive and collaborative
environment for educating, networking and engaging in discussion among the
participants that would lead to problem solving for better asthma control in the
Austin community.
Challenge:
Last year the summit was held at a traditional
conference facility in central Austin. This year, the ALA wanted to host the
summit at a more enjoyable and unique location that would give participants not
only a great learning experience, but an opportunity to retreat from their
normal day-to-day. Texas Disposal Systems, Exotic Game Ranch & Pavilion was
selected as the venue because of its remote location and scenic offerings.
Though the venue offered the aesthetics the client desired, the location
presented space challenges and required the client to develop a strategy to
creatively utilize the limited space and ultimately accommodate the event’s
needs.
How we Helped:
Developed a creative, yet professional program in
which A Halo Effect collaborated and led the summit planning team through a
structured project management process that allowed the client to focus on
developing the best content for their audience.
Impact:
As a result of a strategic sponsorship plan and
effective negotiations of the venue and catering selections, A Halo Effect
delivered a creative and informative event that was extremely cost efficient
resulting in funds contribution to the American Lung Association over and about
the initial budgeting targets.
